Clerk Still Accepting Applications for Poll Workers in Macomb Township

Most of the positions are filled right now, but fill-in workers are always needed.

Interested in making a little extra money on Election Day? Consider submitting an application to Macomb Township Clerk Michael Koehs to work the polls. Although most spots are filled right now, applicants are needed for the stand-by list.

“We have a good turn-over, so there are always openings,” Koehs said.

Election inspectors are community members who are paid to help voters at the polls on election day. If you’ve voted before, you’ve run into these folks – they are the ones who check your driver’s license, hand you the ballot and help you with the ballot box.

Election inspectors must be Macomb County residents age 16 and older. Those who are 18 and older are required to be registered voters. Also, workers must attend a training session prior to election day, Nov. 6, and should be good at following directions.

In addition to basic information such as name and date of birth, applicants must also indicate their political party affiliation. Candidates and their immediate relatives are not eligible to work. Felons or those convicted of voter fraud may not work in this position.
