Great Escape: Hot Tub Afternoons to Let Off Steam

Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier and maybe a little more wallet-friendly.

Today's escape is one that can make kids, troubles, aches and pains all disappear for less than $10. The location that accomplishes this task is the . For this particular "Great Escape," we turn our focus to two venues within the Recreation Center–the Aquatic Center and Tadpole Town. Child watch is $2 per hour for the initial child and $1 per hour for each additional child. There is a two hour maximum time.

A Macomb resident can buy a one-day pass for the center for $5 and a nonresident for $10. A daily pass will allow access to all areas of the facility, including the walking track, weight room and gyms, but you'll want to head straight to Tadpole Town, where you can leave your children to play under the watchful eye of Recreation Center staff while you escape to the Aquatic Center.

The whirlpool is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. Once you submerge yourself in the tub, dozens of water jets will massage your muscles and gallons of deliciously hot water and steam will relax your body and mind. And if you tire of the tub before you are ready to retrieve your kids from Tadpole Town, step into the lazy river for a few spins around the pool before you go.
