Local residents, including Mayor Corey Haines, celebrated the opening, which lets referred clients choose essential items like beds, sofas, and chairs for a flat $125 fee, funded largely by community donations.

β’ Child killers sentenced to life in prison without parole (theoaklandpress.com) β A Madison Heights man and his girlfriend have been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2024 beating death of her 6-year-old son. Oakland County Circuit Judge Michael Warren also imposed lengthy concurrent sentences for child abuse, weapons offenses, and lying to police, with both defendants remaining in custody awaiting transfer to state prison.
