ANN ARBOR, MI — An Ann Arbor police officer rescued a deer Wednesday morning that was caught in netting in a resident's backyard.

Ann Arbor Police Officer Dattolo found the deer tangled in a sports net at 8:25 a.m. and began cutting it free. As he cut the netting, the deer took off and hit a sawhorse, getting stuck again.

As Dattolo approached the deer again, it freed itself from the sawhorse and ran back into the wilderness.

"The deer eventually made a safe (but frantic) exit and was happily on its way," Ann Arbor Police said. "While he didn't stick around to say thanks, we are pretty sure that the deer is now Officer Dattolo's biggest fan."
