Dearborn Heights Man, 65, Charged With Murder in Feud With Neighbor
Gary Earl Oliver is accused of fatally shooting his 60-year-old neighbor, then kicking him and shooting him in the head.

A 65-year-year-old Dearborn Heights man faces murder charges in connection with the shooting of his neighbor last week, according to a WXYZ-TV report.

Gary Earl Oliver was arraigned Sunday in Romulus on charges of first-degree murder and felony firearm possession, the report stated. Oliver was denied bond, because he is thought to be public danger, the report added.

Oliver is accused of shooting and killing his neighbor, 60-year-old John Kennedy, on June 3. Kennedy and Oliver had been neighbors in the 6400 block of Fairwood Drive for about 30 years, and the shooting was the culmination of a long-running feud between the two. Oliver claimed Kennedy had been picking his locks, stealing money and vandalizing his home, the report stated.

According to police, Oliver shot Kennedy at close range and left after Kennedy stopped moving, the report stated. Oliver then allegedly returned to the scene moments later to kick Kennedy’s body and shoot him in the head, the report added.
