Local DAR chapter remembers WW I Vets

Local DAR chapter honors WW I veterans at cemetery

Plymouth, Michigan – Plymouth’s DAR Sarah Ann Cochrane Chapter Regent, Phyllis DeKiere, planned and led her members to locate, clean & place a “Poppy” at WW I veterans grave sites buried in Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth. The mid-October event included several chapter ladies joining Phyllis with this work as a chapter Community Service project. The ladies found and cleaned over 50 grave sites.

The Daughters of the American Revolution identifies and plans local and regional commemorative events, joining in celebrations that support the goals of the Society. The 100th Anniversary of WW I has been chosen by the National Society as an American event to remember.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.
