Plymouth-Canton HS Shift To Virtual Leaning Next Week
Following a lockdown over a threat, the three high schools will shift to remote learning for the week of Dec. 13-17.
PLYMOUTH-CANTON, MI — Following a four-hour lockdown of three Plymouth-Canton high schools after a report that someone was spotted at one of the schools with a gun, the school district announced it will go virtual next week, superintendent Monica Merritt said.
Canton High School, Plymouth High School and Salem High School will shift to remote learning for the week of Dec. 13-17, and will return to in-person learning after winter break on Jan. 3, 2022, Merritt said.
All other schools in the district will resume in-person learning on Monday, Merritt said.

Police said they were notified by a student he saw another student with a weapon. An investigation quickly began and the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park was placed on lockdown.
Police did not find a weapon and no one is in custody at this time, but the investigation in to the report continues, officials said.

The incident prompted the entire Plymouth-Canton School District to close Friday.

"Their quick response, preparedness, and professionalism led the way for us to maintain composure and control of our environment throughout this crisis."
