The race began in 2011 when the Plymouth-Canton community rallied behind a Canton High School sophomore, Jesse Lindlbauer who suffered a sinus infection that turned into an infected brain abscess. All proceeds from the race went toward the student's recovery.
Since then, the race has been used to support families in need. Overall, the event has supported 50 families and raised more than $1 million.
