Four students from the Avondale High School Vocal Music Department were chosen to participate in the Michigan School Vocal Music Association Regional Honors Choir this year. The choir is an opportunity for collaboration of high school vocal music students from all over the state of Michigan.

Students are selected based on submission of a video-taped performance made entirely without musical accompaniment and in their own “voice part”. Less than half of the hundreds of singers who apply for the choir are selected. The group will come together on December 7th at South Lyon High School for a day-long practice and performance session with the best of the best in their peer group, making up the MSVMA Regional Honors Choir.

As part of the regional group, students have the opportunity during the day-long session to audition for the MSVMA State Honors Choir which performs at the Michigan Music Education Conference in Grand Rapids on January 19, 2020.
