OXFORD, MI — Accused Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley pleaded not guilty Wednesday during a brief Wednesday arraignment in Oakland County Circuit Court.

The plea was entered on behalf of his lawyer, while Crumbley stood mute to the charges, which has the same effect as pleading not guilty.

Crumbley's parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley were in court Friday seeking to reduce each of their $500,000 bond, but were denied by an Oakland County judge. They were charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter and were tracked down down law enforcement last month.

Both parents were accused of ignoring warning signs in Crumbley's behavior, which included Ethan keeping a severed baby bird's head in a jar and text messages to his mother about seeing "ghosts" and "demons" in the family home.

A recently amended lawsuit also accuses many school officials, teachers and administrators of ignoring warning signs and disturbing behavior, which included countdowns and threats of bodily harm of the suspected teen shooter, Ethan Crumbley.

Despite his non guilty plea, Crumbley's lawyer said he could still plead guilty a some point.

Crumbley is facing 24 counts, including four premeditated first-degree murder charges in connection to the Nov. 30 shooting rampage that left four students dead and seven other people injured.

His next court hearing is scheduled for Jan. 19, but Crumbley is not required to be present at that hearing.
