Paint Creek Trail Labor Day Bridge Walk & Run

The Paint Creek Trail is offering two options for participants again this year.  The first option is a 2.0 mile round trip walk from the Kiwanis Pavilion at Rochester Municipal Park east to the Trail, and north to Tienken and back.  For those wanting more of a challenge, the second option is a 10K round trip walk or run from the Kiwanis Pavilion at Rochester Municipal Park north to Silver Bell and back on the Trail.  On-site Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Kiwanis Pavilion.  The events will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Plenty of parking is available at the Rochester Municipal Park and in downtown Rochester.  Participants are encouraged to use the Trail to get to the park.

This event is free, with a suggested tax-deductible donation of $5.00 per family to help raise $75,000 toward replacing Paint Creek Trail Bridge 31.7, located near Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve.  Participants can pre-register online at www.paintcreektrail.org starting August 22 or by mail until September 1. Registration is also available on-site the day of the event.

The first 200 registered participants will receive a free Paint Creek Trail Cell Phone/Media holder, and plenty of fudge will be available for the “virtual” Mackinac Bridge experience. In addition, local businesses Caribou Coffee, Bruegger’s Bagels, Dish It Up, Dinosaur Hill and Dr. Ron Fried Chiropractic and Wellness Center will be on site with giveaways and information.
