The watershed council and volunteers will search for Winter Stoneflies in the Clinton River at Yates Park, and at another nearby stream. These aquatic insects are good indicators of stream health, and are most active during colder months. Their presence in the river can be taken as a sign for good water quality since they require high levels of oxygen. Our search will help add to our Adopt-a-Stream Data and will provide you with a chance to learn about the ecology and conditions of our local streams. We meet regardless of the weather so dress warmly!
Where: Meet at Yates Park in Rochester Hills, and from there we will split into 2 teams with one traveling to a 2nd nearby sampling location.
When: January 22nd, 10:00am – 2:00pm - attendance is not required for the entire duration, but there will be a free pizza lunch and warm beverages near the end of the event!
