Tap into history with one of the oldest creativeÂ
expressions—doll making.  Celebrate your motherÂ
and Mother Earth by making your own. Â That lonelyÂ
earring that belonged to your grandmother, a bit ofÂ
and any other meaningful items would help to honorÂ
the ones who sustain you. Â
The techniques we will use originated on Africa’sÂ
Ivory Coast and were passed on to our instructor,Â
Margaret McGuinness, M.Ed., ATR-BC, by artist RiuaÂ
Akinshegun. Â The doll-making process is bothÂ
therapeutic and educational, used for thousands ofÂ
years to teach cultural and spiritual beliefs. Â ReadÂ
more about Ms. Akinshegun here.Â
All ages, $15
12 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
Must pre-register by May 3 by calling (248) 706-3304 or visiting http://www.theartexperience.org Â
