Officials at Selfridge Air National Guard Base announced airmen will be conducting readiness drills Saturday that will include firing of a number of signal flares into the air over the base. The flares may be visible to residents who live near the base.
According to base personnel, the signal flares simulate one method of how a downed air crew could signal their location to a rescue operation.
