Boil Water Alert Lifted

Residents can resume using city water.

St. Clair Shores has lifted the boil water alert for residents using city water, according to a post on the city's Facebook page and website.

Residents can resume normal use of city water, according to the posting.

The boil water alert was issued after the city experienced a significant reduction in water pressure about 10 a.m. Friday. City officials believe the loss of pressure was due to the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department shutting off one of the water feeds into St. Clair Shores for normal maintenance.

At the same time Friday, another water input on the north end of the city was shut down for a construction project, said Benjamin Hughes, St. Clair Shores city manager.

This drop in pressure caused the city to issue a boil water advisory.

All three school districts were also notified of the advisory to make proper arrangements, Hughes said.
