Michigan's attorney general says the case was among the state's largest forced commercial sex operations, and another defendant connected to the ring will be sentenced in Macomb County this week.

Lake Shore High School bans backpacks from classrooms in new safety policy for students (wxyz.com) — Lake Shore High School students in St. Clair Shores now must leave backpacks and large bags in their lockers, with only small purses or clutches allowed in classrooms under a new safety policy. District leaders say the change, along with a phone-free school day, aims to reduce risks and distractions, while parents and students weigh the trade-offs with convenience and getting between classes on time.
3. St. Clair Shores weighs restrictions on Flock license plate cameras (detroitnews.com) — St. Clair Shores officials are rethinking their contract for Flock license plate cameras after residents packed a council meeting to demand stronger privacy protections or an outright ban. Council members signaled support for new limits on data access and surveillance uses, and the mayor promised an update on the city's agreement at the next council meeting, which could shape future policing and privacy in town.
4. Eastpointe weighs greenway project linking four cities and Iron Belle Trail (mlive.com) — Eastpointe is studying a Stevens Road Greenway that would eventually connect its parks and schools to Warren, Center Line, and St. Clair Shores, tying into the statewide Iron Belle Trail. For St. Clair Shores residents, the eastern trail end would link into town near the Civic Arena and schools, potentially boosting recreation and nearby businesses if the four-city coalition can secure outside funding.
