Relief at the Pump: Gas Prices Falling from Summer Peak

The cheapest gas in St. Clair Shores today is $3.85 per gallon, and prices are expected to continue falling in coming weeks.

The average price for a gallon of gas is slowly starting to fall after hitting a seasonal peak of $3.87 on Sept. 14, according to the Wall Street Journal.

AAA reports the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.79 today; one year ago today, the national average was $3.50 per gallon.

“Retail gasoline prices have slowly been drifting lower since we hit a late summer peak of $3.8708 a gallon on Sept. 14,” Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS), told the Wall Street Journal. He added that gas prices could fall into the $3.70s this week.

In St. Clair Shores, you can find the cheapest gas at the Speedway, on 11 Mile and Little Mack, and the Kroger gas station on Harper, which are both charging $3.85.
