St. Clair Shores Youth Council to Host Community Forum on Education

Members of the council will be joined by residents, local officials, and a representative from the County Executive Office, for a Community Forum on Education.

The St. Clair Shores Youth Council will be hosting their first Community Forum on Education Tuesday at the Lakeshore Family YMCA.

The forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will focus on the changing demographics in Macomb County, and the impact and relation to the success it will have on the county, according to a release.

The event is based off of The New Macomb County, a report prepared by Jim Jacobs of Macomb Community College and Kurt Metzger of Data Driven Detroit, for the office of County Executive Mark Hackel.

"The Forum will focus on how St. Clair Shores is mirroring the anticipated changes in Macomb County, and is intended to be a positive event to prepare the county for change," wrote Josh Denzler, St. Clair Shores Youth Council Education Forum Sub-Committee Chairperson, in an email. "When change sweeps over an area, it can have positive or negative impacts. By coming together in the fashion that we are, we are looking at the successful and not-so-successful ways we can deal with change, and make our new county even better than before."

A representative from the County Executive's office will attend the forum, which will include presentations from representatives in the education community, including student accounts of their experiences in school, according to organizers.
