I grew up in Southwest Detroit (or, as the group Journey would have you believe "Born and raised in South Detroit). My father was a cab driver and had a heart condition. I was always worried about him being alone in his cab and having a heart attack. (I told you it was a long time ago. He was a cab driver in Detroit and I was worried about his health). One night he got home late and I was worrying and waiting up for him, so he told me a story about the Witch and the Wart.
Even as a young child the meaning was obvious. Don't borrow trouble and don't worry about things that may never happen. It can ruin the good things in your life and spoil the time given to you.
In real estate that can happen too. Buying or selling a home is scary; there are so many things to worry about. Will you be approved for a loan or will the buyers buying your home qualify? What if something goes wrong on the inspection? What if the neighbors are horrible or the basement leaks or (insert concern here)? If you work with an experienced real estate agent they can help you through any and all of those things. Of course sometimes the deal doesn't work and then you move on to the next one. I tell my clients "Let me do all the worrying for you, I know what there is to really worry about. When there is something to be concerned about I will tell you and we will work it out together" Just like in so many endeavors in life it is extremely important to work with someone you feel you can trust.
It has been many years since my father passed away. Sometimes though, when I am awake at night worried about this thing happening or that thing that might happen I can still hear my father telling that story. And the meaning is still obvious. . .
No matter what happens in life. . . don't be a witch :-)Until next time, Celia
