Four Metro Detroit Theaters Stage 'Come From Away' for 9/11 Anniversary (wcsx.com) — Troy's Ridgedale Players are joining three other Metro Detroit theaters to stage the musical "Come From Away" from Sept. 11–27, honoring the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Local residents can also attend commemorative events in Grosse Pointe and Canton Township, including ceremonies, music, and readings that reflect on the tragedy and the stories of resilience that followed.
2. New facilities planned for Troy hospital (candgnews.com) — Corewell Health is planning a massive $440 million expansion of its Beaumont Troy Hospital, adding an eight-story tower with 180 private rooms, a revamped emergency entrance, and a new parking deck. With the ER already among the system's busiest, Troy officials say the project will significantly improve access, comfort, and future capacity for local patients when it opens in the early 2030s.
3. Prep Roundup: Shutout earns Milford its third LVC win in a row (theoaklandpress.com) — Troy High's boys soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 5-0 home shutout of Bloomfield Hills, keeping the Colts atop the OAA Red standings. The wider prep roundup also highlights strong performances from nearby schools in soccer and volleyball, giving Troy fans a quick look at how local rivals and regional opponents are shaping up this season.
4. Car crash and fire kills 1, injures another in Berkley (candgnews.com) — A Labor Day night crash in Berkley killed a Warren man and seriously injured a 40-year-old driver from Troy when their SUV hit a tree and caught fire. Berkley officers and a bystander pulled the driver from the burning vehicle, while investigators now suspect speed and possible alcohol or drug use as they await blood test results.
