ISD 196 Pitches 2021 Priorities To Legislators
The Legislative Advisory Council presented on topics such as education funding, flexibility and fairness.
APPLE VALLEY, MN— Representatives from Independent School District 196’s Legislative Advisory Council presented the district’s 2021 priorities to local legislators via Zoom February 24, the district announced Monday.
The council, consisting of 26 members that include students, teachers, board members, parents, and community members, presented priorities on topics such as education funding, flexibility and fairness, the district said.
Superintendent Mary Kreger gave a presentation on the district's focus on making changes in safety, equity, and achievement while in a pandemic. Later, students told the legislators about their experiences about going to school in the pandemic, the district said.

The district said that three LAC members also spoke to legislators about the following topics:
- Stable funding for E-12 education
- Fewer mandates and greater flexibility for local decision-making
- Fairness in providing for an education for all students
- Fully equalizing funding for taxpayers regardless of where they live or the property wealth in their school district.
