Jason Lewis Votes For American Health Care Act; Twitter Reacts
"The American Health Care Act's much-needed relief includes lower premiums, universal access, and greater patient choice," Jason Lewis said.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jason Lewis, who represents suburbs in the south Twin Cities metro, issued the following statement after voting for the American Health Care Act (AHCA), H.R. 1628, as it passed the House: "Last year, I promised the people of the 2nd District that I would promote real health care reform that works for their families. I’m keeping that promise," Lewis said.
"Obamacare is continuing to collapse," Lewis continued. "The American Health Care Act’s much-needed relief includes lower premiums, universal access, and greater patient choice."
"We also continue the important missions of protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that no-one can be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition. I’ll keep working to make quality, accessible health care a reality for families in Minnesota."

Lewis is one of the few Republicans that has supported the American Health Care Act since its inception. Here's how some voters responded to Lewis on Twitter Thursday:
@RepJasonLewis waited 8 years, thank you. Keep up the great job your doing!

@RepJasonLewis Could you please explain how you voted for a bill that gives you better coverage than 350 million americans?

@RepJasonLewis The #ACA is not collapsing. Very disappointed that you voted for a measure that will strip millions of their health insurance.

@RepJasonLewis Yesterday you pleaded for "fiscal sanity." Today you want to vote for something the CBO hasn't even scored & you don't know the cost. Why?

@RepJasonLewis Thank you Mr. Lewis.... as a #MN02 I am VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!! #MAGA

@RepJasonLewis Access and choice do not equal affordability and you know it. Looking forward to supporting your opponent in 2018.

Republicans in the House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act Thursday by 217-213. With no Democratic votes, GOP leadership has partially recovered its wounded pride after its embarrassing first attempt to pass the bill ended in abject failure in March.

But the bill faces an uphill battle to pass the Senate. And the Republicans’ victory today may yet be undercut by the substance of the AHCA, which roused widespread opposition from interest groups, pundits and the public. If the bill becomes law and the critics prove correct, the effects of policy could unleash waves of resistance to the Republican governance as millions of people previously insured under Obamacare lose coverage.
