Rosemount Church And Private School Switches To Solar Power

The solar panels will save the church around $20,000 in electric costs per year.

ROSEMOUNT, MN— The Church of St. Joseph, a Catholic church and private school community, will now be powered by solar energy, Novel Energy Solutions announced Tuesday.

3,528 solar panels will cover five acres on St. Joseph's campus and produce 1.25 million kilowatt hours of energy(enough to power 150 homes) per year, Novel Energy Solutions said.

The parish administrator for St. Joseph's, Randy Haney, estimated that the solar panels will save the church around $20,000 in electric costs per year, Novel Energy Solutions said.

“With solar, you save money and do what’s right — that’s what makes it
sustainable,” Ralph Kaehler, vice president of business development for Novel Energy Solutions, said. “Everybody benefits.”

Kaehler said he is confident the solar panels will spark student interest and curiosities about how the solar panels work.
