Family Seeks Answers For Man Killed In Eagan Police Standoff
The family of Isak Abdirahman Aden, 23, wants more information about the July 2 incident that left Aden dead, according to a report.
EAGAN, MN — Family members asked officials to release more information surrounding the death of Isak Abdirahman Aden, who was killed in a July 2 standoff with Eagan police and other law enforcement agencies.
Aden, 23, of Columbia Heights, died of multiple gunshot wounds following an incident where Aden allegedly assaulted a woman in a car and fled. Eagan police were dispatched and located Aden, who was in possession of a firearm. After a short foot pursuit to the 1900 block of Seneca Road, law enforcement attempted to negotiate with Aden for several hours.
According to police, officers asked Aden to put down his gun and follow their directions; however, shots were fired. Aden was transported to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Aden’s sister, Sumaya Aden, said at a news conference Monday that Aden “didn’t deserve to die the way he did,” the Pioneer Press reported. She also said Aden embodied what it meant to be a kind and good person.
Jaylani Hussein, director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said there are “so many questions” related to the incident that are not being answered by law enforcement. He asked the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is leading the investigation, to release “all information” about the shooting.

The BCA said in a statement it would not release information about an active investigation while the case is open.
