Edina Alpine Ski Teams Headed to State
Boys finish first, girls second at Section 6 meet; Hornets hoopsters split with Wayzata.

Tuesday saw the Edina boys and girls alpine ski teams claim state-qualifying finishes on the slopes at Buck Hill as the Hornets girls and boys basketball squads split Lake Conference matchups with Wayzata.
Boys Alpine Skiing: Edina Wins Section Title
The Edina boys alpine ski team won the Section 6 championship and will be heading to the state meet next week after tallying 480 points to hold off second-place Burnsville (446) for the section title.

Jake Campbell was the top Hornets' finisher with a ninth-place time of 43.78 seconds as Peter Smith had the No. 10 time in 43.84. Also qualifying for Edina were Alex Thompson (44.58), Will Baker (44.69), Rolf Tengdin (45.12) and Coleman Foley (51.74).
The state meet is scheduled for next Wednesday at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.

Girls Alpine Skiing: Hornets Second At Sections
While Bloomington Jefferson took the Section 6 championship, the Edina girls alpine ski team will be going to state with a second-place finish as Kiltie Finsand won the individual section crown with a time of 42.61 seconds.
Also heading to state for the Hornets are Taylor Johnson (46.5), Thea Zerbe (47.58), Shannon Hughes (50.20) Kaia Lindquist (52.11) and Hannah Downey (DQ).
Girls Basketball: Edina 49, Wayzata 38
A 49-38 home win over Wayzata upped the Edina girls basketball team's record to 12-8 overall and 1-3 in the Lake Conference.
The Hornets were ahead throughout, on their way to a second consecutive victory as guards Katybeth Biewen and MC McGrory led all scorers with 19 and 17 points, respectively.
Edina hosts Hopkins at 7 p.m. Friday night.
Boys Basketball: Wayzata 74, Edina 57
The Edina boys basketball team lost its first Lake game with a 74-57 setback at Wayzata.
Forwards Philip DeBerg and Chris Thompson scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead the Hornets, who fell behind by 10 points at halftime before losing by 17 at the final buzzer.
Edina travels to Hopkins for a 7 p.m. start on Friday night.
