"They played a very strong game, they were tough to compete with," said Edina coach Laura Slominski. "They played great team defense. We've always struggled to score goals on them. Most of our games have been 0-1. I think two is the most we've ever scored against them."

"The biggest difference we couln't put any pucks in the net and they did," Slominski said. "They went that span of six minutes and that kind of sealed the deal for them. I was happy with the third period we played, but again we didn't bury a single puck all night and you're not going to win any hockey games if you don't score any goals."

Rossman stopped all 24 shots fired at her by the Hornets.

"It was a variety of factors," said Minnetonka head coach Eric Johnson. "Our goalie played real well and made some key stops when we needed her to and that creates moemtum for us as well."

Minnetonka put in three goals in a power-packed six minute span in the second period. Bowman scored at the 10:22 mark and then again at 16:25.

Sandwiched in between was a goal by Holly Korn, unassisted for the Skippers. Diana Draayer and Sidney Morin recorded assists along with Petersen on Bowman's two goals.

"It was a great game for our girls," said Johnson. "I was really happy with our team's efforts against a good Edina team. Our girls stepped up and played a great game."

Minnetonka outshot the Hornets 29-24, including a 12-8 edge in the decisive second period.

It was a nice bounce-back effort for the Skippers, who dropped a 3-1 decision to Minnetonka on Tuesday.
