From Breeder's Barn to Secondhand Hounds

This Havanese is available for adoption through Secondhand Hounds.

Riley spent the first portion of his life in a barn, where he was being used for breeding purposes. When the breeder decided to release some of his dogs, rescue organization Secondhand Hounds took him in and immediately began work on giving him a better life. Riley made a quick adjustment to his new surroundings.

“He was not used to being in a house or around people at all, but he came around quickly and now loves to run around wagging his tail and cuddling with his people,” Rachel Mairose, director of Secondhand Hounds, said.

Riley came to Secondhand Hounds with a condition called cherry eye, which has since been fixed. He also has grade II luxating patellas, which are manageable. He walks just fine; he simply needs help with stairs. Riley would do best in a home with another dog and he does very well with children.

“He deserves a wonderful home of his own,” Riley’s foster mom Brittany Howard said, “someone that will continue to show him that being a dog is okay.”
