Othello Bounces Back from Adversity
This pit bull mix is available for adoption through Secondhand Hounds.

To say Othello had a rough start is an understatement. Largely neglected, he was kept in a crate for more than 20 hours a day for the first year of his life. Outside the crate, life wasn’t much better—Othello lived with several other un-neutered male dogs who were aggressive toward him.
Then, Othello got a second chance through Edina-based rescue group Secondhand Hounds. Since his rescue, Othello has revealed a sweet and loyal personality, remarkable for his history.
“He loves people and has an exuberant, awesome personality,” said Rachel Mairose, director of Secondhand Hounds.

As Othello was showing some dominance toward other dogs, Secondhand Hounds had him enrolled in obedience class. His foster dad has been taking him there weekly. Mairose said Othello has done so well that he is now the “test dog” for reactive dogs in his class.
Othello has been living with his foster family for the past three months and his foster dad said in that short time he has watched Othello blossom into a well-behaved—at times, even role model—pet.
