(PHOTOS) Patriotism on Display at Edina's 4th of July Parade

The annual 4th of July Parade got underway at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning in Edina. The parade route started at , made its way down 50th street, and ended at the parking lot at Halifax Ave. 

Marching bands were able to dress down for the mid-90's temps and high humidity and in some instances were allowed to wear shorts and t-shirts. Assistants weaved among the band members, squirting water into thirsty mouths and keeping people hydrated. 

Being an election year, the politicians were running in high gear along with their supporters. Shaking hands and handing out stickers seemed to be the common strategy to get elected or re-elected this fall.
