Rescued from Puppy Mill, Sandy Needs a New Home
This Labradoodle is available for adoption through Edina-based Secondhand Hounds.
Last year, Sandy and her brother Thurman were rescued during a puppy mill bust. Both very shy and timid and first, Sandy and Thurman made substantial progress in interacting with people through Edina-based rescue organization Secondhand Hounds. Thurman has since been adopted by his foster mom, while Sandy remains in foster care waiting for her forever home.
Estimated to be between two and three years old, at a petite 35 pounds, Sandy is a Labradoodle (Labrador/poodle mix). Sandy would do best in a home with patient parents and another dog who can show her what it's like to be part of the family. Sandy will also need a fenced yard as she loves to spend time outside.
Though her time at the puppy mill has left her shy, Sandy is very sweet, and Rachel Mairose, director of Secondhand Hounds, believes she will flourish in the right home. Sandy has also shown some adorable qualities since being in rescue.

“She hops over the other dogs in her foster home when she is excited," Mairose said. "It is so cute!”
Sandy is housebroken for the most part, but needs to be kept on a schedule. She also does well walking on a leash. If you are interested in adopting Sandy, fill out an adoption application on the Secondhand Hounds website.
