Top Halloween Costumes for 2012

October 31 is quickly approaching! Do you have your costume yet?

Whether you want to follow this year’s trends or create an original costume, Patch has researched some of the most popular Halloween costumes for 2012.

“Angry Birds and morph suits are big this year,” said Ben Hansen of Spirit Halloween store. “Princesses are always popular for the little girls and we also have a series of Monster High costumes.”

According to the Party City website, which has locations in both St. Louis Park and Bloomington, Angry Birds, Monster High and fairies lead the must-have looks for this Halloween. Other top costume themes include superheroes, Gotham City, sci-fi glam, bright colors, circus clowns, Disney Princesses and gothic romance.

Hansen said the specialty at Spirit Halloween is decorations and special effects.

“A lot of people try to mix and match things to customize their costume,” he said. For example, people can pair a ‘Where’s Waldo’ shirt with Freddy Krueger glove.
