VEAP Collecting School Supplies for Children in Need

The organization is accepting donations through Aug. 15.

VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People) is now accepting school supply donations and registering children in need of supplies for the 2011-12 school year.

Children in kindergarten through 12th grade who live in Edina, Bloomington, Richfield and South Minneapolis are eligible to receive the free supplies. In addition, students must be between 5 and 18 years of age by Sept. 1 and the household must be in financial need.

Once your children are pre-registered, a pick-up date and time will be scheduled. The following information is required:

  • Head of household photo ID.
  • Official mail addressed to head of household dated no later than July 1, 2011.
  • If a child has not been registered with VEAP in 2011, an original document such as a birth certificate or social security card.

To register for free supplies, you must call 952-888-9616. All children must be registered by 6 p.m. Aug. 11. No walk-in or in-person registrations will be accepted.
