Progress continues on power restoration efforts (kaaltv.com) — Thousands of Rochester residents lost electricity after severe storm damage, but Rochester Public Utilities has reduced outages to hundreds while warning that restoration times will still vary. Crews are repairing downed lines and poles, and officials urge you to keep fridges and freezers closed, use coolers with ice if needed, and throw out any food you're unsure about.
   

2. UMR chooses design firm for $110M 'Heart of Campus' in downtown Rochester (postbulletin.com) — A major new University of Minnesota Rochester academic building is moving forward downtown, with Perkins + Will selected to design the $110 million "Heart of the Campus" facility. The project, eyed for one of several central sites, would add high-tech classrooms, student support spaces, and a large gathering area, supporting UMR's plan to more than double enrollment by 2030 and reshape the campus footprint near University Square and Soldiers Field.
   

3. 5-Year-Old Rochester Girl Dies in SUV-Semi Crash (krocnews.com) — A 5-year-old Rochester girl has died after an SUV and semi collided Wednesday evening on 75th Street Northwest near the new roundabout at 18th Avenue Northwest. Three other Rochester family members in the SUV were hospitalized, one with life-threatening injuries, while the semi driver from Elgin was unhurt; authorities say everyone used restraints and alcohol was not a factor.
   

4. Rochester Man Injured in Highway 52 Crash Near Zumbrota to (krocnews.com) — A 60-year-old Rochester man was injured Friday morning when his SUV left northbound Highway 52 near the Highway 58 exit by Zumbrota and rolled into the ditch. He was the only person in the vehicle and was taken to St. Marys Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; authorities report he was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not involved.
   

5. Rochester watches in awe during rescheduled 4th of July fireworks show (kaaltv.com) — Rochester residents finally got their full Fourth of July fireworks show Friday night after weather and technical issues cut the original display short. Families, including new University of Minnesota–Rochester students, packed downtown spots like Peace Plaza to watch, with some attendees sharing how the rescheduled celebration carried personal meaning tied to military service and remembrance.
