• Missoula's Miller Creek Road, Unfinished For Decades, Faces $4,000 Assessments (alternativemissoula.com) — Missoula's Miller Creek residents could soon face special assessments up to $4,000 each to finally complete Lower Miller Creek Road, a busy route serving hundreds of homes and Jeannette Rankin Elementary. The city has drafted an $8 million plan, largely funded by future development fees, but a significant share would fall on property owners, with the final decision headed to City Council this winter. 
• Missoula County to fund study on tax increment financing (missoulacurrent.com) — Missoula County commissioners just approved up to $55,000 for an independent study examining how tax increment financing (TIF) really affects local taxing districts and taxpayers. With five county TIF districts contributing to the cost, officials say they want clear, unbiased facts on how TIF interacts with Montana's property valuation system and local budgets before making future decisions.
