1. The September 26th News of the Week (omaha.com) — Omaha residents will soon feel big changes downtown, with the Farnam Street bridge over I-480 reopening after nine months of reconstruction tailored for future streetcar service. Crews are also finishing Mutual of Omaha's towering new headquarters, The RiverFront has already drawn over 10 million visitors, and CHI Health Center Omaha is planning a major expansion of its convention space.
   

2. Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands hosts 25th annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk and Family Festival (3newsnow.com) — Nearly 2,000 people packed Baxter Arena in Omaha for the Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands' 25th annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk and Family Festival, celebrating inclusion and community. Families formed themed teams, enjoyed games and activities, and helped raise money that will fund scholarships, education, family support, and advocacy for neighbors with Down syndrome across the metro.
   

3. BPOA hosts 11th annual Student Celebration (ketv.com) — Omaha families and officers gathered at Gene Leahy Mall for the Black Police Officers Association's 11th annual Student Celebration, mixing performances, games, and education-focused booths. Organizers say events like this help build trust, boost minority recruitment, and may even contribute to Omaha's declining crime rate by strengthening relationships that encourage residents to work with police.
   

4. 'Wait Wait' for September 26, 2026: With Not My Job guest John Cook (gpb.org) — NPR's comedy news quiz "Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me!" recently recorded an episode in Omaha, giving the city a national spotlight. Host Peter Sagal interviewed legendary Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook, now general manager of the Omaha Supernovas, while panelists tackled quirky news stories, limericks, and predictions in front of a local audience.
