Police Bodycam Footage Shows Chaos Of Las Vegas Mass Shooting
"Go that way! Go that way! Go that way! Hey, they're shooting right at us, guys!" police are heard saying on body camera video of the chaos.

LAS VEGAS, NV — Body camera video released late Tuesday of Las Vegas police officers’ first response to Sunday's mass killing captures the chaotic scene and rapid staccato of gunfire as shooter Stephen Paddock picked off victim after victim at a music festival. Ten minutes later, 59 people, including the gunman, were dead, and more than 500 were wounded in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
“Hey you guys, get down! Go that way!” an officer can be heard shouting at concertgoers fleeing the venue as sirens wailed. “Get out of here. There’s gunshots coming from over there. Go that way! There’s gunshots right here!”
The dramatic footage shows officers crouching down as they advance, all the while directing civilians to safe shelter. “Go that way! Go that way! Go that way! Hey, they’re shooting right at us, guys! Everybody stay down! Stay down!” an officer shouts. (For updates on the shooting and daily news from Las Vegas, sign up for the Patch morning newsletter and breaking news alerts.)

Police still don’t know what motivated Paddock, a retired accountant, high-stakes gambler and real estate investor to fire hundreds of bullets into the crowd, ending the final concert of the three-day Route 91 Harvest country music festival on a bloody, deadly note. He killed himself before police blew open the doors of his high-rise hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
Paddock’s meticulous planning included setting up surveillance cameras inside his hotel room and on a service cart outside the door, apparently so he could tell if police were coming for him.
Investigators hope to get some answers from Marilou Danley, 62, Paddock’s live-in girlfriend. She arrived in the United States Tuesday night after traveling in Asia for the past two weeks. Police have described her as a “person of interest” but don’t believe she was involved in planning the massacre.
