CONCORD, NH — This week's Fugitive of the Week was quickly apprehended by local police after the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force received "numerous tips" from the public about where the child rapist with a long criminal history might be located. One of the locations where task force members heard Edward Coleman III, 44, might be hiding out was an apartment complex located on Old Madbury Lane in Dover. According to Deputy Marshal Jeffrey White, marshals dispatched Dover police on Tuesday night to the complex to see if he could be located.

"When officers arrived, Coleman initially refused to open the door to the apartment, but after a short period of time, the officers were able to enter the apartment where they arrested Coleman without further incident," White stated. "Coleman was transported to the Strafford County Jail for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance on the outstanding Dover warrants."

Those Dover warrants include two counts of Coleman allegedly failing to maintain his sex offender registration status. He was charged on July 10, 2019, on those warrants as well as a parole violation warrant issued by the New Hampshire State Board of Parole.

"After the Dover charges are resolved, Coleman will be returned to the NH State Prison for Men on his parole violation," White added.

According to the state's sex offender registry database, Coleman has a long criminal history dating back to the mid-1990s. He has been convicted on burglary, drug, stalking, theft, stolen property, assault, false imprisonment, duty to inform, and multiple violation of probation or parole charges. These charges — beginning in the mid-1990s — are on top of aggravated felonious sexual assault on a victim under 13 and felonious sexual assault on a victim under 16 convictions in 2012.
