CONCORD, NH — The subject of an early morning Amber Alert on Friday connected to two North Country children who were missing and thought to be in danger has been arrested on a murder charge.

Dustin Mark Duren, 37, of an unknown address, was arrested on March 1 on a felony second-degree murder charge for killing Caitlyn Naffziger, the mother of his two children who were featured in the alert. She died due to a single gunshot wound to the head and, according to an autopsy, the manner of her death was homicide.

Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, said local and state police were sent to an apartment on Main Street in Berlin around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday. When they entered, they found Naffziger’s dead body.
