Black Ice Pond Hockey Postponed Until February
Breaking: Due to wet and warmer weather expected in Concord, the tournament is being postponed.

CONCORD, NH — The organizers of the popular Black Ice Pond Hockey tournament at White Park in Concord are postponing festivities for the seventh annual to February due to wet and warmer weather expected through the rest of this month, according to an email to participating teams. The organizers are hoping to reschedule the event for Feb. 10, to Feb. 12, 2017.
Originally, the event was booked for Jan. 27, to Jan. 29.
“The Black Ice Board of Directors and volunteers work hard to make The Black Ice Experience the best,” according to the alert from the 1883 Black Ice Pond Hockey Association. “We understand that you pay a registration fee and expect a quality tournament. Last season, we had to change the format to get the tournament in, we do not want to follow this format again. With the forecast looking colder the first two weeks of February we hope that the ice quality will improve and we can play Black Ice Pond Hockey then.”

In past years, too, warmer temps have melted the White Park Pond ice making it difficult to skate.
Organizers are looking to hear from teams no later than Jan. 26, on whether or not they can participate. Any team that can’t play will have their paid registration fee for the 2018 season.
