Chimney Fire Reported On Peabody Street In Concord: Watch

Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to a home in the North End for a report of a fire near North State Street.

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to Peabody Street for a report of a chimney fire on Wednesday.

Capital region fire dispatch received calls about smoke inside the home just before 5 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing smoke and ash coming from the single-family home.

Command requested firefighters wait until the ladder truck could arrive to tackle the fire from the chimney. Firefighters also tapped into a fire hydrant at the intersection of Peabody and North State streets.

Firefighters entered the home and checked the first floor for fire. Firefighters did find a fire in a fireplace and extinguished it. Other firefighters then went to the home's basement to check for fire, but did not find any.

The firefighters reported the fire appeared to be contained to the chimney.

Firefighters reported finding the source of the fire in the chimney at around 5:15 p.m. According to dispatch, they extinguished the fire and released the other fire companies.
