Concord Felon Arrested On Drug Charges In Hooksett

HOOKSETT, NH — A Concord man is facing felony charges after an incident in late April and an arrest in Hooksett Thursday.

At around 10:30 p.m. on April 28, an officer was checking the parking lot of the Regal Cinemas, which was closed at the time, and came upon a vehicle. Jeremiah Turner, 40, of Garvins Falls Road in Concord was the operator of the vehicle and while speaking with him, the officer "located" a "large knife" on the passenger floor of the vehicle.

"A consent to search the vehicle for weapons was granted and an additional 12-inch fixed blade knife was located concealed next to the driver’s seat," according to Sgt. Joseph Ducharme of the Hooksett Police Department. "It was discovered that Turner was a convicted felon and was placed under arrest for felon in possession."

Turner's vehicle was seized and a search warrant requested and approved. During the search, Ducharme said, two small bags of a white rock substance were found. A lab test later revealed that the substance was crack cocaine, he said. A warrant was issued for Turner's arrest on possession of crack cocaine and transporting drugs in a motor vehicle charges.

Turner was arrested on Oct. 1 by Merrimack County sheriffs, taken to Hooksett, booked, and released on personal recognizance bail.

Turner is a felon due to a burglary conviction out of Pittsfield in October 1997 when he was a teenager. About a year after the burglary charge, he was accused of felonious sexual assault of a child between 13 and 16 in October 1998 in Pittsfield and convicted in May 2000. According to a criminal history listed on the state's sex offender registry, Turner has been convicted of resisting arrest or detention, simple assault twice, criminal mischief, failure to appear, and three violation of terms of probation and parole.

Turner is due back in Merrimack County Superior Court on Oct. 30 for a plea and sentencing hearing on the felon in possession of a weapon charges. A future date will be set for the drug charges.
