CONCORD, NH — A woman from Concord, who was out on bail after a previous charge and faced violent charges in the past, was arrested in July on a felony knife threat charge.

Around 3:30 p.m. on July 7, officers were sent to the Regency Hill Estates complex for a welfare check of Carrie Drake, 53, of East Side Drive in Concord, after receiving a request to check in on her due to prior comments that were concerning, a report said.

Officers arrived, saw Drake, and heard “loud screaming” coming from a building, with a woman other than Drake being heard yelling, “She needs to be locked up.”

Officers spoke to the woman, who said she did not want to speak with the police. After calming down, she told the officer she was taking out the trash with a teenager, and Drake asked for a ride, the report said. The woman ignored her and started to walk back to her home. The woman accused Drake of walking toward them while holding a butcher knife in her hand. They then attempted to enter the building while telling Drake she would be kept out of the building, an affidavit said.

Drake, however, countered, “I’m not going to hurt you that bad,” the report said. The woman and the teenager then fled the area. However, she accused Drake of following them while holding the knife at a 90-degree angle.

“The blade was facing toward them when she was following them back outside,” the officer wrote.

The officer spoke with the teenager whose story was similar to the woman’s, the report said.

The officer spoke with Drake, who was accused of admitting to having the knife, saying she was going to use it to get into one of the buildings to see a friend. She also admitted to asking the woman for a ride, the report said. When asked what she meant, Drake said, “I don’t know,” the affidavit said. Drake, however, denied raising the knife and said she had it at her side the entire time, the officer wrote. When asked about the friend, Drake was accused of saying she did not know the person’s real name.

Drake was out on bail at the time of the incident, and a warrant was issued for her arrest on felony criminal threatening and breach of bail charges. She was picked up on July 25.

Drake is a felon due to three attempt charges in Bow from December 2006. In November 2007, Drake was accused of attempted murder and evaluated to determine if she was competent enough to stand trial. She was a "long-time New Hampshire Hospital patient," according to court documents. The charges were later lowered to second-degree assault and reckless conduct, and Drake served about nine months, with 10 years suspended, and was confined to administrative home confinement in August 2010. She has previously been arrested on assault, trespass, disorderly conduct, and theft charges in the past, too, according to reports on Patch.

Drake also has an active criminal mischief charge working through Merrimack County Superior Court from August 2020 in Concord. Drake failed to appear at the jury selection hearing on July 19.

In the knife threat case, Drake was arraigned on July 26 and held in preventive detention. She appeared in court again on July 27 and Aug. 10 for an evidentiary hearing. Drake was held in preventive detention again.
