Concord Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Fire on Woodbine Avenue

Dwayne Crawford was arrested today on arson, other charges for allegedly pouring gasoline on his twin sister and setting her on fire.

CONCORD, NH — A local man was arrested this morning for arson and attempted murder after a fire on Woodbine Avenue, according to a police press statement. Dwayne Crawford, 37, of Concord, was arrested on Dec. 15, 2016, for attempted first-degree murder, arson, first-degree assault, criminal mischief, and reckless conduct; place another in danger, all felonies.

Concord Fire and Rescue teams as well as police were called to the home at just before 3 a.m. this morning for a report of a fire and learned there was a victim – a woman – with burns. She was transported to Concord Hospital and later, to a facility in Boston.

“Responding officers and fire personnel encountered a female victim who suffered from serious burn injuries,” according to Det. Sgt. Sean Ford of the Concord Police Department.

An “on scene investigation” of the fire and burn victim led to Crawford’s arrest on numerous charges. He was arraigned this morning in Concord District Court and held without bail. The Concord Police Department continues to investigate, Ford noted, with the assistance of the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office, the ATF and the NH State Police.

WMUR-TV reported this afternoon that Crawford allegedly poured gasoline on his twin sister and set her on fire, police reported in court documents.

According to an arrest report from nearly two years ago, Crawford was arrested in an apartment at the Crutchfield Building on Pitman Street for allegedly assaulting officers during the process of them serving involuntary admissions paperwork on Crawford. During the incident, he allegedly scratched one officer which caused that officer to head butt another officer, according to the December 2014 report.
