Concord Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting His Infant Son

Police say child suffered "multiple fractures."

A Concord man turned himself into police on April 11, on charges that he allegedly assaulted his child earlier this week.

Gregory M. Perkins, 22, of Concord, was arrested at noon and charged with two felony counts of first degree assault.

On April 8, detectives were called to Concord Hospital to investigate a 21-week-old infant that “had sustained multiple fractures,” of a serious nature, according to a Concord Police Department statement.

“Detectives investigated this matter and were able to establish probable cause that the infant’s father, Gregory Perkins, had assaulted the child on at least two separate occasions,” Lt. Timothy O’Malley, the commander of the criminal investigations unit, said in a statement.

After issuing an arrest warrant, Perkins turned himself in.

The infant, a boy, is expected to make a full recovery.

Perkins was later released on $20,000 personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned on May 13, in Sixth Circuit District Division Court.
