Concord Middle School ‘Armed Threat’ Incident ‘Not Credible’: Follow-Up
Update: SAU 8's Murphy: The threat made against the school Sunday was investigated and found not to be credible; police stepped up presence.

CONCORD, NH — The school superintendent for the Concord School District told parents Tuesday a threat issued against the Rundlett Middle School on social media has been deemed not credible.
A back-and-forth on Facebook Sunday between students led to an allegation that an armed threat comment was made. SAU 8 administrators found out about the threat on Monday afternoon, reported the incident to the police, and placed the school into a secure campus protocol.
Murphy said the protocol keeps students in their classrooms while no one can leave or enter the building. Investigators then spoke to some of the students involved in the online post.

“After a thorough investigation by the police, the students involved in this threat were identified, and parents were called,” she said. “I want to assure you that the threat was not credible, and there were no weapons involved. Nor did the students have any access to weapons.”
The questioned students returned to class, and RMS students were dismissed later, at the normal time.

Murphy said Concord Police Chief Brad Osgood authorized officers to remain visible around the school Tuesday to “minimize additional anxiety experienced by students and families.” Counselors were also at the school for any student needing support, she said.
“Safety is a top priority in the district, and the schools will continue to be vigilant in maintaining a safe learning environment for students,” Murphy said.
The matter will is now in the hands of the school administrators, parents, and the police department, she said.
Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department said investigators were able to determine there was "no credible threat of any kind" after they became aware of the post and investigated it. During the investigation, all the people responsible were identified, he said.
"Every safety precaution has been taken, and the Concord School District has requested an additional police presence at RMS out of an abundance of caution," he said. "Again, there was never any credible threat."
