Concord’s Wrestlers Continue Their Winning Ways With Victories Against Souhegan, Bow, And Plymouth

Crimson Tide varsity wrestlers advance to 16-0 — including a nailbiter with the Sabers at Super Quad 3 Saturday.

CONCORD, NH — Concord High School’s Crimson Tide varsity wrestling team notched three more victories Saturday, advancing to 16-0 for the season.

The morning started with a back-and-forth battle with Concord facing off against Souhegan — a team that has improved significantly during the past four years.

In the 157, Leonardo Chung of Concord won by decision, 11-7, in the first bout, with Patrick Casey of Souhegan, in the 165, winning by tech fall, 17-2. Maximus Chung of Concord won in the 175 by tech fall, 15-0, and Micah Dibble of Souhegan won by major decision in the 190, giving Souhegan a 9-8 lead. Concord then notched up four wins: Isaiah Puckett in the 215 won by major decision, 12-3, Camden Carbone in the 285 received a forfeit, Biswas Darji pinned his opponent in the 106, and Carter Buxton in the 113 pinned his opponent. Nathan Stout, in the 120, for Souhegan, won by pin. In the 126, Dominic Schinella won by tech fall, 16-1, making the score 35-15. Souhegan then won the next three bouts: Jack Kaler in the 132 won by tech fall, 19-4, Landon Carson won by pin in the 138, and Chase Knuckles won by tech fall, 20-5, making the score 35-31. In the 150, Daniel Sheehan prevailed by tech fall, 18-1, securing the win for Concord, 40-31.

The wins against Bow and Plymouth were a bit easier.

Concord beat Bow, 53-15. Davien Dionne of Concord started off the bouts with a pin in the 165, followed by Maximus Chung in the 175, winning by tech fall, Jakob Manseau in the 190, winning by forfeit, and Puckett winning by major decision, 8-0, in the 215. Hunter Hutchinson of Bow won 4-3 in the 285. Sean Flaherty of Bow won by fall in the 113. Khai Jawitz of Concord won by major decision in the 120, 11-3, while Schinella won by a 10-7 decision in the 126. Owen Gregg of Concord pinned his 132 opponent. Ethan Back of Bow in the 138 won by fall. Jaxon Carter, in the 144 for Concord, won by tech fall, 16-0, while Sheehan won by major decision, 13-0, in the 150, and Leonardo Chung won a 9-0 major decision.

Against Plymouth Regional, the Tide won, 69-12. The bouts started off with Maximus Chung winning a forfeit in the 175, Manseau winning by tech fall in the 190, 18-3, and Puckett winning by forfeit in the 215. Carbone then pinned his 285 opponent, as did Darji in the 106 and Buxton in the 113. Jawitz in the 120 and Schinella in the 126 also won by forfeits. Gregg then pinned his opponent in the 132. Kody Sawyer of Plymouth pinned his 138 opponent, while Carter won by tech fall, 16-0, in the 144. Sheehan pinned his 150 opponent and Leonardo Chung in the 157 won by tech fall, 16-1. Simeon Crane of Plymouth won in the 165 by fall.

Essex, Vermont, wrestlers were scheduled to attend the quad but were unable to do so.

Junior varsity wrestlers from Bow, Concord, Plymouth, Salem, and Souhegan also competed in dozens of matches during the quad.

Concord travels to Keene on Wednesday and then hosts the annual Capital City Classic tournament, with proceeds supporting the program.
