Convicted Assaulter, Placed On Escape Status, Caught In Cambridge
Theodore Brown, a transitional inmate missing since Sept. 8, is back in New Hampshire after being arrested in Massachusetts this week.

CONCORD, NH — A convicted assaulter who was placed on escape status earlier this month has been caught and is back in the Granite State, according to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections. Theodore Brown, 32, was placed on escape status on Sept. 8, after allegedly failing to return to the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester at 8 p.m. as required. The New Hampshire State Police and DOC have been searching for him ever since.
Investigators, however, received a tip on Monday that Brown might be in an apartment in Cambridge. Police went to check the tip out and arrested Brown, according to Laura Montenegro, the public information officer for the NH DOC.
Brown waived extradition, was brought back to New Hampshire, and is at the state prison for men again. He was originally convicted of assault with a 2.5- to six-year term. Brown's earliest release date would have been this December, with a maximum release date of June 2023.
