Crashes Reported All Over New Hampshire

NH Homeland Security is warning drivers to use caution and seek alternative routes due to closures on I-93, I-89, and Route 125.

CONCORD, NH - Slippery roads due to snow, sleet, and freezing rain are causing motor vehicle accidents all over the Granite State tonight.

Snow started falling lightly in the area around 4 p.m. and then re-started around 6 p.m. The precipitation, which is not expected to accumulate more than a 10th of an inch, is expected to clear out of the state later tonight.

Around 5:15 p.m., emergency alerts reported a major crash with injury on Route 125 in Brentwood near South Road which caused the road to be closed for several hours.

About 30 minutes later, crashes started being reported on I-93 South near Canterbury, which eventually shut down the highway. Some readers on the Concord NH Patch Facebook site have reported being at a stand still for more than an hour.

At around 6 p.m., a motor vehicle crashed into a utility pole on High Street in Boscawen, just over the Penacook line. Also, a rollover was reported on the southbound side of I-89 in Hopkinton near Exit 6. The left lane of the highway was closed for about 40 minutes.

A rollover accident was also reported on the northbound side of I-93 in Canterbury at around 6:15 p.m. At around 7:30 p.m., more accidents were reported on I-89 near Sutton.

It has gotten so bad that New Hampshire’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management officer has issued travel warnings requesting drivers use caution.
