
– The countdown has begun for the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center’s second annual 4K Redstone Rocket Race and Starhop 1K Fun Run on Saturday, August 25 at 9 AM.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall winners and to the top three finishers in eight age categories, Clydesdale and Filly divisions, Family Team division and Walker division. There will be post-race refreshments, telescope viewing, rocket launches, prize drawings, and more! The first 100 registrants will receive a t-shirt. All participants are eligible for prize drawings.
Registration is $20 for an individual, or $50 for the Family Team division. Starhop 1K Fun Run registration is $3 (all kids win a prize). Computerized timing will be provided by 3C Race Productions.

The 4K Redstone Rocket Race is a community event and all proceeds support the educational programs and mission of the Discovery Center. More information, a course map and registration applications are available online at www.starhop.com.

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space sciences, a state-of-the-art planetarium and a variety of science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs. The engaging, robust educational programs are geared towards families, teens, seniors, students, community groups, and lifelong learners.
