Granite State Roller Derby’s second home bout of 2012 is May 12 at the Everett Arena in Concord. GSRD’s Legislashers are 1-1 in 2012 after dropping a hard-fought home opener against New Hampshire Roller Derby on April 14, then rebounding the following weekend for a win against Green Mountain Derby Dames in Vermont.

May’s “Momma Said Knock You Down” themed bout pits the Legislashers against the Connecticut Roller Girls’ Yankee Brutals. Appropriately, Go Local Music presents the band Yankee Cockfight for halftime entertainment.
Doors open to the public at 6 p.m.; the game begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the league’s website, granitestaterollerderby.com, or at one of these local vendors: Spank Alley Skateshop (upstairs at 8 N. Main St., Concord), Concord Headlines (216 S. Main St., Concord) and Arnie’s Ice Cream (164 Loudon Rd., Concord). Tickets also may be purchased at the door.
Flat-track roller derby offers an entertaining and exciting time for the whole family. Children under 5 are admitted free, seniors and military are $8, and adults are $10 for advance tickets. Prices are $2 higher at the door.
Granite State Roller Derby is a registered NH nonprofit organization and works in partnership with local charitable organizations. A 50/50 raffle at May’s bout will benefit Womenade of Concord, which provides short-term financial assistance for families in need in the greater Concord area (womenadeconcord.org).
After the bout, fans are invited to join the ladies of GSRD and CTRG at Chen Yang Li in Bow (520 South St.). Meet the skaters and learn more about the comeback of roller derby!
Granite State Roller Derby was founded in 2010 and is based in Concord, NH.
